Septic & Drain Service

The plumbing between your house and your septic tank, done right.

Expert Septic & Drain Service

Rural homes depend on a clear line from the house to the septic tank. When that line clogs, sags, or breaks, drains back up and the house stops working.

We handle the plumbing side of septic systems: drains inside the home, the main line to the tank, and the backups that happen when something goes wrong in between.

✦

Signs of a septic-related drain problem

  • Every drain in the house is slow
  • Gurgling from drains or toilets
  • A sewage smell inside or in the yard
  • Backups at the lowest drain in the house
  • Soggy ground or unusually green grass over the line
  • Toilets that flush slowly or incompletely

What causes problems on septic properties

  • Tree roots entering the line to the tank
  • Settling soil that creates low spots in the line
  • Grease, wipes, and paper products building up
  • Older pipe that has cracked or separated
  • A tank that's overdue for pumping

What we handle

  • Clearing the main line from the house to the tank
  • Camera inspection of the line
  • Line repair and replacement between the house and the tank
  • Cleanout installation
  • Drain and fixture repair inside the home
  • Vent problems that cause slow drains and gurgling

What affects the cost

  • Length and depth of the line
  • Whether there's an accessible cleanout
  • Clearing the line or repairing it
  • What's on the surface over the line

Before we arrive

  • Stop running water and flushing toilets.
  • Skip chemical drain cleaners. They can harm the bacteria your septic system needs.
  • If you know where the tank is and when it was last pumped, have that handy.

Nampa Plumber FAQ

Septic & Drain Service Questions, Answered

Straight answers from local plumbers who've been working in Nampa and the Treasure Valley since 1960.

Is the problem my septic tank or my drain line?

+

If the tank was pumped recently and drains are still backing up, the problem is usually in the line. If it's been years since the last pumping, start with the tank. A camera inspection shows exactly what's going on in the line.

Do I need a plumber or a septic pumping company?

+

If the tank is full, it needs to be pumped. If the tank is in good shape and drains are still slow or backing up, the problem is in the plumbing, and that's our work.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

+

Most household tanks need pumping every few years, depending on the size of the tank and the number of people in the home. Regular pumping protects the line and the drain field.

Can tree roots get into the line to my septic tank?

+

Yes. Roots find small cracks and joints and grow toward the water. We can clear them and use a camera to see whether the line needs repair.

Are drain cleaners and septic additives safe for my system?

+

We don't recommend chemical drain cleaners. They can kill the bacteria that break down waste in the tank. A healthy system generally doesn't need additives.

What shouldn't go down the drain on a septic system?

+

Wipes (even ones labeled flushable), grease, paper towels, feminine products, coffee grounds, and large amounts of harsh chemicals. These clog lines and overload the tank.
